Dr. Latanya Nichols
Immediate Past President (2024–2025) | Educational Leader
Dr. Latanya Nichols is an accomplished educational practitioner and community leader with more than 37 years of combined corporate and educational leadership experience. She most recently served as Immediate Past President of the Pine Hills Community Council, guiding the organization through a period of strategic focus, collaboration, and community-centered leadership during the 2024–2025 term.
Dr. Nichols has over 27 years of experience within a large urban public school system, with professional roles spanning classroom instruction to senior district-level administration. Her work is grounded in building strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize performance outcomes and sustainable impact.
Her areas of expertise include data analysis and visualization, data management, grant writing, leadership development, assessment literacy, progress monitoring, performance-based compensation systems, and school improvement planning. Dr. Nichols is widely recognized for her service-oriented leadership philosophy and her deep commitment to student and adult learner development.
She is an active member of professional organizations including the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. Dr. Nichols is also the author of I Can’t Carry That in My Backpack!, a work that reflects her passion for educational equity, leadership, and learner support.
Dr. Nichols remains honored to serve the Pine Hills community by sharing her expertise, experience, and vision for growth-centered, data-informed leadership. Dr. Nichols is the President of the Pine Hills Community Foundation, Inc., (PHCF). Founded in 2024 by the Pine Hills Community Council (PHCC), the Pine Hills Community Foundation (PHCF) was established to expand charitable initiatives and further the mission of PHCC. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we focus on education, health, economic development, and housing—investing in the people and resources that drive positive change.
